A little more powerful than its standard counterpart with a higher compression ratio it could achieve a top speed of in excess of 90 MPH.  A quote from the road test carried out by Motor Cycling on a 1960s machine perhaps sums it all up ‘Steadily improved over a number of years, the BSA Shooting’s Star engine gives the model of fine blend of pep and good manners’.
